Meet the team

Kerryn Ashford-Hatherly
Clinical Psychologist

Kerryn is a Clinical Psychologist with more than 30 years of experience in the mental health field. Her background includes working as a Police Psychologist with Western Australia Police and holding senior management positions in non-government and private organisations.

Kerryn has worked for several years providing training and consulting to state and national law enforcement and first responder agencies. She also a long history of working within the FIFO and resources sector.  Her background involves providing critical incident coordination and response, mental health training, and consultancy services to major mining, offshore oil and gas, and construction companies across Australia and internationally.

As a Director of Ashcliffe Psychology and the Metrix Program (formally the Matrix Program), Kerryn leads a clinical team in the delivery of the Metrix Program, an intensive outpatient addiction treatment model.  In addition to this Kerryn continues to provide training and consulting on mental health and alcohol and drug issues in the workplace.

Areas of Clinical Practice

Kerryn has extensive experience working with co-morbidity, alcohol and other drug issues, domestic violence, and trauma. Her primary clinical interest areas include:

  • Addiction

  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

  • Mental health impact of concussion

  • Sleep and fatigue management

Therapeutic Approaches

Kerryn’s approach to therapy integrates evidence-based interventions with existential theories. The treatment modalities she utilises include:

  • Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Chairwork Psychotherapy

  • Schema Therapy

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Narrative and Transpersonal Therapy

 Her professional interests include depth psychology, existentialism, philosophy, and oneirology (the study of dreams).

In addition to family time, Kerryn loves the beach, all animals, and going on silent retreats.
